Lost and Found

Do these belong to you? If so - email me and I will return. They remained at my house since Sunday after the party of all parties. That for another day! Have a great one!

Random Thoughts and senses

Ok - I had this incredible whitty and in my opinion hillarious blog typed and guess what happend when I went to post. Nothing - ERROR!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRR! I will attempt to recreate my creativeness, but who knows - first time is usually best.

I have only two things to post about today.

1. All who desire to cook fish or seafood at home should be aware that when cleaning up it is necessary and recommended to run your dishwasher with those dishes in it and to run your garbage outside as well as your garbage disposal if you have one. Otherwise - WOW that is a strong smell the next day when entering your house. It only goes to prove that you do not always know you are living in stink until you are out of it and then re-enter. Oh my!!!!!!! I now sit here typing while hearing the dishwasher going, the garbage is out and the disposal has been run with some lemon dish soap and ice for a while. I also could not resist the clorox wipes as well as the febreze swiffer for good measure. I think I meet health code again.

2. When you have conversations with others there are those that do talk and process much slower than me. I am not talking about your occasional distraction, pensive moment as if to say - I better watch my words, etc. It is that unusually long pause inbetwen exchanges that might pose a lesser person to ask them to turn up their battery, go get a soda while waiting, move on to something else thinking the other party is not interested, etc. No my friends - I am talking about long pauses that make you think - this would make a hillarious Sat. Night Live skit - the ones that make you ponder the spots on the wall behind the person you are speaking to, the ones that make you think - man I have to go use the restroom - is there time. Well welcome to my life - I have a client that this so difficult with I have made myself start counting to ten before firing another sentence just in case he is ready to say something back because if not - I confuse him. Can this be taught - or is it a gift. Lord help me on this one. I know I have been accused of beinga motor mouth in the past, but come on - is this my punishment. Pentence -perhaps.

On a side note - the boys are doing well in their combined room and I think we like it. I will post pics after the angels clean the room - I can not and will not post dirty room pics of my two precious boys' room on my perfect blog:) It may be 2010 before those get on here but I will try.

Whew - I did have a lot to say - perhaps it is a result of the lack of words spoken today - refer to #2

Home Improvements

Well - since the last development we have a new roof. They started Thursday morning at around 7:30 and were done at around 3:30 - too fast. It is nice and I love getting to get rid of the brown orange roof finally after 3 years of living with it. Now the only issue is that the trim color we just painted looks too light now - we need contrast apparantly. The problem is that I am not good at this one so back to the drawing board. Mike was sweet enough to say that he would paint it again if I wanted. What a sweetie! I hate this process but the outcome does make it worth while.

Liam and Noah begged to stay home yesterday so they could watch the roofing. That was a big no, but we did drive by several times to "check on it" and all was well then.
We did move the kids into one room and are in the process of converting Noah's nursery into a playroom. Pictures later - have not had time to take any. They have slept for two nights in the same room and so far - pretty good. A few glitches but nothing earth shattering.
Work is good - crazy problems with internet, emial and connectivity this week, but all seems on the road to progress - progress that is a funny word. It is intended to move you forward - but in the mean time - you are converted back or worst case - standing still? mmmhhhhh!
Have a great day and know the McCarthy family loves you all!!!

4th of July - I'm Back

Ok - this was more than a hyadis ?(sp) but at the prodding of a few special people in my life I am now going to try and do this again. I will start with the most recent as I am in no way trying to catch up since the last blog. If you want to know the inbetween stuff - call me - I am here :) .

We had a wonderful 4th of July. It started out with dinner with friends and a visit from my parents after some fun at the local splash pad with awesome friends. Then we went to the parade (as all good Beltonians do) and it was down home and wonderful. I love this town! We saw Mike drive the lotus and it was the highlight of the boy's parade - until they saw the HEB Buggy and then Dad was pushed aside for a larger than you can imagine engine powered shopping cart while chanting HEB - no where on this planet does it get better than this!!!! We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful display of good clean hillarious fun! We sat with friends and that was the icing on the cake. Then after mandatory naps we headed to the Rodeo - the boys had never been. While it was no masterpiece of performances, we had kick dirt in your face seats and that was awesome. We saw everything up close and the Kids were tickled to be so close. Thank's to UMHB we scored the seats as they were given to us and it was a huge blessing. Noah enjoyed the popcorn the most and Liam the blow up crocodile he was given as a freebee. We were exausted but had soooooooooooo much fun. One other thing happened this weekend, but that is for another post. Well - I have rambled enough. Here are some pics of the weekend. Enjoy - I am learning on the picture thing so please be patient with me.

Brody and Noah at parade - interested in nothing at the time

Liam at parade

Lotus and Miss MHB - that is Mike driving -and no - no tickets or accidents this weekend!!!

The famous HEB cart

Mr Magoo we are not - but safety first when it comes to sparklers - thank's daddy!
Noah Did not last past the first sparkler - he said it was "Sparking" him.
The Rodeo - Forgot this Bull's name but he is famous for things such as this.
Ok Friends - my first official post back - Enjoy!

Coffee Anyone?

Ok -I was challenged to set up a get together for us girls sometime soon. Coffee Anyone - Let's meet at Starbucks next Monday night from 6:30 - 8:00. No agenda - bring games, drink coffee - or not - it is just a time to talk and catch up on summer things. Invite anyone whom you think will enjoy. Sorry - no men! This is girl time. Even if you are not a coffee drinker - bring your own beverage of choice and your best conversation. Or perhaps you would like to just come and listen! That is awesome. Sometimes I feel as if I talk way tooooooooooo much! The starbucks on I-35 next to Whataburger at 6:30. If some of us need baby sitters, perhaps we can pool kids and split the bill :). Even if it just me - I will be there - I love a good quiet time. Even if you can't stay the whole time - no big deal. See you there - wear your lounging gear - it is definately casual!!!!!!!

Love,
Mel!!!!!

HAPPY NATIONS BIRTHDAY!!! THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE SERVED AND ALL WHO ARE SERVING OUR COUNTRY STILL! YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES DESERVE OUR HIGHEST PRAISES! THANK YOU!

Suitcases and water

Apparantly to young boys - it is hillarious to fill a suitcase with water from the sink while mom is cooking dinner!!! I fail to see the humor in the midst of the wave!!! Ahhh the life of boys - what will they think of next - I am afraid to see!

Birthday Parties and lots of running around

Well, today was a day off for me. Noah had a mandatory day off due to his bronchitis, so we took Liam to a birthday party and Chuck E Cheeses and then to swim lessons. We got my glasses fixed at the mall for the 3rd time. Somehow I have short people that love to mess with them and bend them. I know the glasses people thing I am a total clutz!!! As a result of the time off, I will be working tonight on client information. No rest for those who did not file taxes on time!!!!! Oh by the way - Mike is still cutting trees. He is putting in 14 hour days on the tree cutting and should be done either tomorrow or thursday. The good news - he really likes physical labor - it makes him feel like he is truly working - a guy thing I think. Anyway - oh other news. Mike went to a bible study with his older brother Buster last Friday!!!!!!!! As most of you know - this has been 15 years in the making!!!!!!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!! Buster is very close to accepting the lord if he has not already. He even expressed the feeling that he feels like a stranger to the world!!!! Hello - scripture is everywhere. Mike and I are beside ourselves. It is a great day in the LORD!!!

Love to all!!

Swimming and coughing

Liam went swimming this afternoon. Noah did not go to lessons - brohchiel infection. Bummer - he was looking forward to it. Perhaps Wednesday!!! Girl's night out tonight!!! Woo hoo!!!! I am sad it is to say see ya later to a dear friend. Times fly when you are having fun. Mike is finishing his second day of cutting down trees. Last night he said - well, the day was good and only minimal property damage - are you kidding me!!!! Two shingles - not bad. The trees are off the house and structures, so today and tomorrow are all about getting them down and the stumps ground down. Real work for real men!!! Well, gotta run - I am sure the kids are being really creative while Mommy is busy!

Pictures I spoke of

The boys really do love eachother!

Even holding hands :)

I am trying - really

Ok - I am trying. I am working on consistenct. Mike is cutting down trees for the next few days for some friends he works with, so I am flying somewhat solo. Just trying to keep the small ones alive you know! I am looking forward to a girls night out tomorrow night with some friends! We are actually saying goodbye to a friend who is moving to kansas for a year with her husband, but we hope they get stationed back here when he is done. It has been a couple of months since I was able to do anything with friends, so this will be a wonderful treat. I am currently without a baby sitter due to Mike cutting trees until sun down, so we'll see. I perhaps might find someone at church tonight.

Swim lessons are this week again. The boys love the water, so that is wonderful. Noah has no fear of the water and will just walk in whenever, so we really are hoping he learns some steadfast water safety rules!!

Father's day we are going ot Rockwall, so that should be fun. I have been planning the family trip to San Diego in July! I am so persistant and it takes me forever, but I usually get good deals, it just takes time!! This week I fell into one with the hotel. Praise the Lord - I was getting discouraged when the 1 star hotels were 150 per night. OUCH!!!! Persistance and the Lord's guideance paid off!!!

Well, Liam and Noah just spilled bubbles on my kitchen floor, so I have to go clean up and discipline. At least I can mark cleaning hte floor off of my to do list. Guess who will be cleaning hte floor (Boys)!!!

Talk soon!!!

WHAT A WEEK!!!

You ever feel like you are going 90 to nothing and not getting anywhere? That is my week. Too much stuff!! Nothing bad - just busy. Work, pick up kids, play, dinner, baths, play, bed, work, rest, bed!!!!

Well - I should have some reprieve in about a month. The tax man cometh and I will rest. I am trying to decide what to do for a vacation this summer for the family. Budget is a must, but we are still wanting to spend some time together and have a lot of fun!!! IDEAS????

Liam was such a big boy yesterday morning. He took a shower all by himself!! (well - I left the curtain open and it was in my shower, so I was standing three feet away the whole time, but none the less - he washed his hair, body and rinsed all by himself. That was so cool!!! He was very proud as well - he told all his friends and his teacher at day care like it was the coolest thing. Very cute.

Noah is still such a flirt - he is my darling. I see why everyone's baby is the baby!!!! It is hard to let them grow up!!!

Well - gotta go watch grey's and fold laundry. Liam is cleaning his rool - yeah right!!!

Mike is home tomorrow!!!!!!!! I am so ready - I miss that guy!!!!!!!!!

Back in the saddle again

I am reviving my blogging status. I no longer promise to be consistant, but I do promise to always come back. I am loyal that way. I have realized that I love reading my friends posts (mary michele) so why not allow them the same luxury on my side.

Mike is in Wolf Creek Colorado skiing. He left sunday and will return saturday. I miss him. I find myself a little bored at night. It is weird. You go all day getting through those tough times and think to yourself - when the kids go to bed tonight, the quiet will be so nice. Then when it happens, it is not so nice. Not sure I am really making sense, but who cares. I know what I mean.

Work is crazy and I am trying to get on top of things only to realize the mountain of life's stuff is just growing. I am thinking of taking off Friday and taking the Boys to the zoo. They would love it and lets face it - so would I. I love doing things with them. I manage to make it ok, so I love being adventurous. It is nice to do things where you do not have anyone to fall back on so you just have to figure it out. It lets you know that God is there and He will strengthen. That reminds me of one of my favorite verses:

Isaiah 40:31
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Wow - I am amazed at where God just took me. I am actually almost crying right now as I type. God is FAITHFUL and we have so much strength in HIM. Thank you Lord Jesus.

To all those out there that are tired, GOD IS GIVING REST!!!! To my friends who are burdened - SOAR!!! God is God and He can take it!!!!!!

Love to all -

I am inspired!

Hebrews 12:1
"Therefore, since we are surorunded by such a great cloud of witnesses, letus throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith, who for hte joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. "

PEACE!!

Melanie's daily grind

I have what?

Ok - you know when you go to the Dr. you usually pretty much know what you already have, you just need them to diagnose so you can get your prescriptions, well think again.

Apparantly what I thought was a sinus infection - turned into Pneumonia - that's right - Mel has walking Pneumonia. Who knew. Well one Rocefin (sp) shot and an antibiotic along with blood draw and chest x-ray and I am home and stricken from work until Thursday. Mike is awesome - handling the kids and making dinner, cleaning up - amazing!!!!!!!!! What a guy!!!!!! He even came home from the store with a new pair of comfy pj's that were in his words "soft so your skin won't be irritated". I love that man!!!

Well - gotta go lay on the couch and do nothing. This is very weird. The down side - I really do feel rather lousy.

At least it is not on Christmas. Perhaps you noted my lack of preparation in my earlier blog - yeah tring not to think what this is going to do to those plans right now.

Talk when I can breath better.

Melanie's daily grind

Sinus infections and what not - HOHOHO - Merry Christmas

Well - it's that time of year again. We shop till we drop and then get sick all in time to see our pocket books drained and our houses full of stuff we could do without in reality.

This is how I was feeling recently. I am in desperate search and on a mission to teach my boys the true meaning of Christmas. How hard that is in today's culture of Happy Holidays and Season's Greetings. I want to say MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!! and I am going to. I have made it a point to teach the boys something new each day about our Christmas traditions and what they mean. I want to make sure that the celebrations we go to Liam knows are for Jesus' birthday. He calls it a Jesus party because he really understands birthday parties so that makes him ultra psyched. We are trying to emphasize the better to give than receive motto and he is doing rather well - I am actually shocked. We went to see santa and he only asked for a monster truck. Santa said - Is that all - Liam said - yep - a Monster Truck. And a racing truck for Noah - too cute. We also wrote our first letter to santa and mailed it to the north pole. It was too cute. I plan to write back and leave the letter on one of the santa gifts on Christmas.

We are also struggling as a family to identify our family traditions. The ones we will look back on and go - ahhhhh goood times. It is hard in a world of grandparents and extended family - but we are going to make our best efforts this year to do that.

I must say work is unusually busy this time of year - usually it is down time - but not now. I guess that is a great problem to have - too much work.

I had my house cleaned (try and do this once every 4 months) yesterday so I am back to square one with my maintenance. It is wonderful - I had to work 3 hours extra to pay for it - but well worth it!!!!!!!!!!!

Well - gotta go wrap presents for Gramps and Jeff - busy santa I am :)

We are going to rockwall tomorrow and Sat and then back here until Christmas day - back to Rockwall.

Did I mention it is Dec 14 and I have bought nothing for the kids for the holidays - not worried - I can power shop if I need to.

Have a wonderful day and remember - JESUS is CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!

Melanie's daily grind

Parties and Pictures

Ok - Just had a college student take some pics of us for a christmas card. She had not really had that much experience with kids, so - just bare with us and the picture on the card - it is ok - not great. had great potential, but the kids did not take to it too well. I do not like any pictures of myself right now because I need to lose about 20 lbs, so after that - it will be fun again. well - college students are coming over tonight for mike;s office christmas party. around 12 students and the 4 of us - caserole is in the oven, rotel in the crock pot and mike is at the store with noah. liam is watching cars - ahhhhhhh peace and quiet (as quiet as it gets around here)

we have the outside lights up but nothing on the inside yet. that is such a metaphore for so many things - you know - all pretty and put together on the outside and empty and blah on the inside. Well - I will let you interpret what you want. I am trying to get focused on my christmas shopping, but you know how that goes - no time - will probably do it in one massive day like always.

Mike usually does his the day before or so, so i guess you could say he is rubbing off on me in our old age :) haha

I am really stressed at work right now - big push for a project tomorrow and thurs and not sure how they are going to get done - but i am sure they will - always seem to.

life at chez mccarthy is ok right now - noah is waking up at night and screaming his head off for no reason -no infection - a little eczema but treated - etc. it has been going on for a couple of weeks and i am loosing it in that department. we let him cry and 1 hr later - same story, so i go in there and calm him down and he throws a fit, so you try and console him - patting is not working any more - not sure why, so you pick him up - he likes that of course, but if you sit down to rock him - oh no - screaming again - the only thing that works is food and dring - a little snack and he will calm down and then if you rock him he goes back to sleep. well - that is obviously not a long term solution, so i am asking - HELP!!!!!! liam did not do this and i am lost - crying it out does not work with noah. he goes to bed fine at 8:00 - no cries, etc. beautiful - it is this 3:00 in the morning thing that is insane!!!!!!!! i am just loving going to my parents this weekend and having this happen!

well gotta go - party time!!!!!!!!

Melanie's daily grind

Thanksgiving - Gobble Gobble!!! Happy Turkey Day!

Well - it is now 7:30 am and the turkey is in the oven, the stuffing was made last night, the green beans two days ago and the potatos are ready to be peeled and cooked as are the rolls (cooked that is). It is Thanksgiving at the McCarthy's and it is just us this year. We are going to eat, nap and then go to Waco to Mike's mom's who is not feeling 100% today.

It is kind of nice to just have us. No pressure to make things perfect, etc.

However, I am a little sad that we are not eating with family. That seems to be so weird since I am eating with my most important family members of all, but you know what I mean.

Hopefully I will get to watch a little of the parade - I love that! Well, in the spirit of the holiday! Eat and enjoy your families - you never know what the year will bring - so Today is your time!!!!!!!!!!! God's blessings to you and yours!!!!!

Melanie's daily grind

I KNOW I KNOW -AGES SINCE I BLOGGED - TOO BUSY - NO - TOO SICK - NOT COMPLETELY - TOO TIRED - A LITTLE - TOO CAUGHT UP IN NOT LETTING MY FRIENDS KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON - PROBABLY - PRIORITIES PRIORITIES PRIORITIES.

WELL - I AM BACK BABY!!!!! WE ARE ALL FINE HERE - NOAH AND I ARE GETTING OVER BRONCHITIS THAT HAS HAD US UP AND DOWN THIS PAST 7 DAYS. WE ARE ON THE MEND.

MIKE FINISHED PAGEANT - YEAH - I HAVE MY HUSBAND BACK - HE IS NOW ONLY FULL TIME AT THE SCHOOL AND PART TIME AT THE CHURCH - COLLEGE STUDENTS ABOUND HERE AT THE MCCARTHY HOUSE.

I AM TRYING TO KEEP THINGS IN BALANCE, BUT IT GETS TOUGH WITH FAMILY, WORK AND EVERYTHING ELSE.

THINGS ARE PRETTY GOOD AROUND HERE - MIKE ACTUALLY HELPED ME WITH THE LAUNDRY THIS WEEK WHICH WAS HUGE BECAUSE I WAS SO BEHIND IT WAS LIKE A MOUNTAIN I DID NOT WANT TO CLIMB AND IT WAS ACTUALLY DEPRESSING ME TO SOME EXTENT (MILDLY). YOU KNOW - LIKE THOSE TASKS THAT SEEM SO HUGE THAT YOU DO NOT WANT TO EVEN START BECAUSE YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO COMPLETE? THAT WAS ME ON THE LAUNDRY - LUCKY FOR ME (WHATEVER - LUCK - NO - GOD GAVE ME AN AWESOME HUSBAND) MIKE SAW THIS AND STEPPED IN AND HELPED ME IN A VERY LOVING WAY THAT DID NOT MAKE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS A TERRIBLE WIFE AND MOM BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE THE LAUNDRY DONE ON MY OWN - HE JUST HELPED!!!!

OK - LIAM IS GOING THROUGH A STAGE RIGHT NOW THAT IS NOT TOO FUN - A LOT OF IGNORING ME AND THAT INFURIATES ME - WE HAVE HAD A LOT OF DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS AROUND THE MCCARTHY HOUSE AND IT IS GETTING OLD - OH WELL - THAT IS A THREE YEAR OLD FOR YA.

MIKE DID SOMETHING FOR LIAM THE OTHER NIGHT THAT WAS NOTHING SHORT OF GENIUS AND I WISHED I HAD THOUGHT OF IT MYSELF. LIAM WAS TRULY HAVEING A WHINNY DAY BEYOND BELIEF - SO MUCH THAT I WAS ABOUT TO SEND HIM TO BED STRAIGHT FROM THE DINNER TABLE. MIKE TOLD HIM TO GET DOWN AND COME AROUND THE TABLE TO HIM - LIAM THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO GET IN TROUBLE. MIKE ASKED LIAM TO LOOK AT HIM- THEN MIKE PUT HIS HANDS OVER LIAM'S FACE AND WIPED IT AWAY AND THEN CLASPED HIS HANDS - HE THEN TOLD LIAM TO CLASP HIS HANDS THE SAME. MIKE TOLD LIAM THAT HE HAD WIPED AWAY THE WHINNING AND HE HAD IT IN HIS HANDS. HE THEN GAVE THE WHINNING TO LIAM IN HIS HANDS AND TOLD LIAM TO GO INTO HIS ROOM AND HIDE THE WHINNING IN A SPECIAL PLACE. LIAM THEN RAN TO HIS ROOM AND HID IT! WE TOLD HIM IT WAS HIS SECRET AND WE DID NOT WANT TO KNOW WHERE IT WAS - TOO FUNNY BECAUSE LIAM HAD A COMPLETE 180! HE WAS AN ANGEL THE REST OF THE NIGHT - JUST NEEDED A LITTLE CREATIVE PARENTING! AMAZING

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY IN THE LORD!

Hand me downs!

Ok - today was fun- I think - still not over. I went to work and encountered a question that I can not answer - yes - this does happen - even to me. The jury is still out on this question - need help from one of the partners on that one. I did accomplish quite a bit and tomorrow looks promising.

The boys and I came home in search of three things. My bible, watch and Liam's winter clothing for Noah. Well score on the clothing front - but bombed big time on the others. Actually, I have been in search of these items for quite some time now and I am most bumbed about my Bible. Why is that when it is the easiest thing to locate and buy. Because it has those notes. You know - the notes you make during that particularly poignant sermon or quiet time or study. Those notes are priceless. So - take note - if you do not have your name and address or some form of contact info in your Bible - do so now. Because you do not want to be me - lost without my swoard. I have been using one of Mike's old ones and it is not the same. I have had it since 95 and it is actually in my maiden name. Too fun! I have faith it will show up one of these days. Darn if my memory fails me as to where it might be.

Anyway - back to the clothes. I was in the attic dropping storage bins to my children below when I had a thought. What if our parents did this too? I am sure they did, but at what point did they finally give it up and sell or donated the stuff. Have you asked. I am at that crossroads now - do I start to give away the boy's stuff that they have outgrown or do I hold on to it in case? That is a very loaded question - so I will not go there. Anyway - all is done and Noah has a few clothes to wear this winter - YEAH. I was hoping Liam and he could share some clothes. Thank the Lord for Texas and our relatively temperate climate.

Well - off to feed the kids and to Bible study - with my hand be down Bible and Noah wearing a hand me down shirt!
